Meet Our Residents

Those seeking respite at the Opportunity Center for the Homeless are a diverse group, and the one thing they all have in common is the fact that each of them has a unique story!

Through the years we have served people from just about every background and every socioeconomic status, race, color, and creed. Some have been on the streets for years, while others find themselves with nowhere else to turn for the first time in their lives. Some are battling addictions, abuse, rejection, behavioral or health problems, or mental health issues; while others have lost every relationship they had or people dearest to them.

On average our homeless population is 88% male and 12% female; 57% are Hispanic, 28% Anglo, 12% Black, and 3% Other nationalities. In particular, we are seeing an increase in elderly single women who become homeless for a variety of reasons.
